The main component of structured water is energy, and that energy comes down to the water molecule itself.

Structured water, or micro-clustered water,  has lower surface tension and better hydrating properties than unstructured. The geometric patterning breaks up large low energy water molecule clusters into smaller high energy clusters, which increases cellular hydration and cell-to-cell communication.

The smaller the molecule cluster, the better the water. The cluster in ordinary water is very large, but structured/micro-clustered water has the smallest molecule structure of any water on earth.

It is said that the smaller the cluster (of water molecules), the easier the water can be absorbed into the body without loss of energy. This allows one to rehydrate better as the structured/micro-clustered water is more permeable which allows it to be absorbed thoroughly into the body and stimulate the immune system.

Structured/Micro-Clustered Water is said to be “living body water”. It is presumed to be water very similar to our body’s liquid, which is 2/3 of the human body’s volume. This water is found inside all living bodies including humans, animals and plants. Any water taken into a living body must be converted into this “living body water”.

When we drink ordinary water, a great deal of energy is consumed to convert it into this living body water. It is said that structured/micro-clustered water,  since it is supposed to be very close to our body’s water itself, requires much less energy for the conversion and is more easily absorbed into our body.  Structured/micro-clustered water,  it is said, possesses such properties that restore our inherent normal body functions.

The largest single section in the “EPA Regulated Water Contaminants” published in Water Technology magazine, is the section on Organics (including VOCs, or “Volatile Organic Compounds”).

In this category the EPA lists 32 very nasty chemical contaminants — many with familiar names like benzene, 1,1 dichloroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, dioxin, styrene, toluene, chloroform, and vinyl chloride.

To give one an idea of the extensiveness of this list, a single one of the 32 items is “Total Trihalomethanes”, a category made up of still uncounted chemicals, assumed to number in the thousands that are formed when water containing organic matter (i. e., virtually all water) is treated with chlorine.

The maximum allowable level for trihalomethanes, which are suspected cancer causers and are present in virtually all chlorinated tap water, is only 1/10 of one part per million. For the Organics category, the primary treatment in all cases and the only recommended treatment in most cases is activated carbon.

The EPA’s Pesticides category lists 14 familiar poisons such as Aldicarb, Chlordane, Heptachlor, and Lindane. In all 14 cases, activated carbon is the only recommended treatment. Of the 12 Herbicides listed (2,4-D, Atrazine, etc.), activated carbon is the only treatment recommended.

For Organics, Pesticides, and Herbicides, the standard treatment, and in most cases the only treatment recommended, is activated carbon.

When people say water filter, they most frequently mean a carbon filter of some variety, because since the Egyptians discovered that storing water in charcoal made it stay fresher and taste better, carbon has been a standard feature in water treatment. Its centuries of popularity attest to its effectiveness.

When considering a home water filtration system, here are some things to keep in mind:
Chlorine was not considered in the discussion above because EPA does not consider it a water contaminant. Although this is patently absurd, it is also politically expedient and not likely to change soon.

Keep in mind that all EPA maximum contaminant allowable are politically negotiated figures that do not necessarily have any basis in reality. They represent a compromise between the ideal and what can practically be done by water treatment plants. Chlorine removal is what carbon is best at, and nothing else equals carbon’s ability to reduce chlorine.

Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS) acid are part of a group of chemicals commonly referred to as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) or perfluorinated compounds (PFCs).

PFOA and PFOS are man-made chemicals that up until 2000 had been widely used in the manufacturing of many industrial and consumer products such as paper and cardboard food packaging, insecticides, electronics, stain repellants, paints, plumbing tape, firefighting foam and non-stick cooking surfaces.

Prior to phasing PFOA and PFOS out of production around the globe, large quantities were released into the environment during manufacturing processes and are now being found in drinking water supplies near current or former manufacturing locations as well as use areas such as airports.

The EPA has set a lifetime health advisory (LTHA) level for two PFAS in drinking water: perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluoro octane sulfonate (PFOS). The LTHA level is 70 parts per trillion (ppt) for PFOA and PFOS combined. THE PFOA and PFOS LTHA is the level, or amount, below which no harm is expected from these chemicals. There are other PFAS compounds that do not have LTHA levels.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established a lifetime of exposure health advisory at 70 parts per trillion (ppt) for both PFOA and PFOS in drinking water. This EPA health advisory level was established to provide a margin of protection to all Americans as well as those who are immuno-compromised or in special populations (elderly, children). Europe and other regions have been reviewing limits for their public drinking water as well.

Exposure to unsafe levels of PFOA/PFOS concentrations through drinking water may result in health effects including developmental effects to fetuses during pregnancy, cancer, liver effects, immune effects and thyroid effects.

Hundreds of everyday products are made with highly toxic fluorinated chemicals called PFAS, short for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances.

They build up in our bodies and never break down in the environment. Very small doses of PFAS have been linked to cancer, reproductive and immune system harm, and other diseases.

EWG (Environmental Working Group) and the Social Science Health and Environmental Health Research Institute track PFAS contamination reported by federal and state authorities.

Michigan has the most PFAS sites, but that’s largely because most other states have not tested for the chemicals as extensively. Unreleased federal data suggest that up to 110 million Americans could have PFAS-contaminated drinking water.

Do carbon filters reduce PFAS?
The number of affected people is likely much higher, but data are limited. Most in-home water filters cannot effectively reduce PFAS chemicals. Our body is predominately made up of water—tissues, blood, lymph, literally all our cells in varying percentages. It is said that alkaline water will help flush out acid wastes which can lead to disease. The diseases listed below are what Japanese doctors have treated and cured in Japan by means of Alkaline Water and/or elimination of toxins and wastes.

HEART DISEASE AND HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
The heart is the center of all blood circulation. Your blood transports all nutrients and oxygen to the cells in your body and carries all wastes away from your tissues. Acidification of the body starts in the blood. Doctors have shown that patients with high blood pressure have an acidosis condition and have shown that acid free high pH alkaline water can lower blood pressure. In order to effectively treat high blood pressure, the level of acid in the blood must be lowered.

DIABETES
In a healthy body the pancreas produces insulin which helps the body to use sugar and carbohydrates properly. However, in the case of people with Diabetes Mellitus, the output of insulin is inadequate for the body’s needs. The reduced production and release of insulin leads to an acidic blood condition.

ARTHRITIS
Many forms of arthritis are the result of acid build up in the joints. It is this accumulated acid that damages cartilages and irritates the joints. Unfortunately, the blood cannot carry wastes out of the joints easily. Drinking alkaline water will change the: acidic condition so the body can fix the problem by itself.

KIDNEY DISEASE
As the body produces more acidic wastes the kidneys are overworked trying to reduce the acids from the blood. Bladder diseases and nephritis are acidic related conditions which can be improved by the consumption of alkaline water. Further, kidney stones form in the kidneys because the environment is too acidic. Drinking plenty of alkaline water will prevent the kidney stones from forming and can even dissolve them.

ASTHMA AND ALLERGIES
Allergies, in general are the result of an erroneous immune system which builds up antibodies against normally harmless substances. Japanese doctors believe this immune disorder is caused by acidosis. Drinking alkaline water can help create a more alkaline environment.

OSTEOPOROSIS
The skeletal structure of the body is a calcium reservoir. When the body becomes too acidic it compensates by taking calcium from the bones which leaves them brittle and prone to breakage. Prolonged usage of alkaline water can help prevent and repair the damages.

While these may sound contradictory, both are the result of too many acids. Too much acid causes the pancreatic juice to be less alkaline and the foods coming into the intestine to be too acidic, causing diarrhea. Drinking alkaline water will help. Doctors in Korea have found that constipation is caused by acid accumulation somewhere near the colon. It is possible that alkaline water helps the secretion of fluids into the colon by eliminating acid build-up.
